Singapore compliance and data handling

Compliance, Security, and Your Data

Finance teams in Singapore are judged on filings and on how safely they hold data. This page sets out how Dovaskin supports IRAS GST requirements, CPF and MOM payroll rules, the audit file standard, and the data protection practices behind the platform. It is written for the person who has to sign off, not for a general reader.

Where responsibility sits

Dovaskin provides the tooling for GST, payroll, and audit file compliance. Filings stay your business's responsibility, or your accountant's.

GST requirements under IRAS

GST treatment is recorded on each transaction, so standard-rated, zero-rated, exempt, and out-of-scope amounts stay separated as the F5 return is prepared.

Dovaskin is built to support GST filing for GST-registered Singapore businesses. The return is assembled from posted entries rather than a manual worksheet, which reduces the risk of a figure drifting between the ledger and the filing. Filing periods are recorded so each cycle starts from a known position, and your accountant can review the return before it is submitted.

Payroll and CPF obligations

Payroll in Singapore involves CPF contributions at the correct rates for the employee's age band and residency status, along with the employee records MOM expects a business to maintain.

Dovaskin's payroll handles the CPF calculations for a payroll run and posts the employer and employee amounts into the ledger. Employee records are held against the payroll history, so a past period can be reconstructed when asked. Where an external provider runs payroll, the platform records the resulting entries and keeps the audit trail intact.

Contribution calculation

Applied per employee, using age band and residency status as recorded

Posting to the ledger

Employer and employee amounts land as separate posted entries

Employee records

Held against payroll history, so a past period can be rebuilt on request

External payroll providers

Their resulting entries are recorded and the audit trail stays intact

Audit file standard

IRAS may request an audit file covering your accounting data, and the file has to follow the published format. Dovaskin generates that file from the live ledger, with transaction detail, account mapping, and tax codes structured to the standard. There is no separate preparation step or spreadsheet reformatting before you send it.

Generated from

The live ledger, at the moment you export

Transaction detail, account mapping, and tax codes come out structured to the published format, so the file you send is the file the system holds.

Do this once

We recommend testing the export during onboarding, so you know the file generates cleanly before a request arrives. If your accountant wants a copy for review, the same export serves that purpose.

Access controls

Access to your books is controlled per user, with roles that separate viewing reports from editing entries.

Roles that separate reading from editing

An external accountant can be given access to specific periods without administrative control over the account.

Multi-factor authentication is supported

This matters when the system holds bank feeds and payroll data.

Access removed when someone leaves or changes role

Their access comes off without disturbing the underlying records, so the history a past period rests on stays whole.

How data is handled

Dovaskin holds your financial and employee data in order to run the service you have asked for. Access is limited to the people who need it to support your account, and your data is not sold. You can export your accounting data, including the audit file, which means you are not locked in if you decide to move.

Our Privacy Policy sets out what is collected, why, and how to make a request about your data. It is linked in the footer of every page.

Retention and your rights

We keep accounting records for as long as your subscription is active and for the period required by Singapore record-keeping rules after that.

  • You can ask what data we hold about you and request a copy or a correction.
  • Requests are handled through the contact details on the Contact page.
  • If you close your account, we will tell you what happens to your data and how to take an export before it is removed.

Where responsibility sits

Being clear about that boundary matters, because a finance team should know exactly which steps they still own.

Dovaskin does

  • Provides the tooling for GST, payroll, and audit file compliance
  • Makes the figures available and correctly categorised
  • Flags where a treatment needs a decision

Still yours

  • The filings themselves, or your accountant's if they act for you
  • Submitting returns to IRAS or MOM, which we do not do on your behalf
  • Deciding on treatment where a flag needs a judgement call

Security questions we get asked

Two come up most: who can see our data, and what happens if we leave. We are happy to answer more specific security questions during a scoping call, particularly if your accountant or auditor has a checklist to work through.

Who can see our data?

Access is role-based and restricted to the support team handling your account. An external accountant can be given access to specific periods without administrative control over the account.

What happens if we leave?

You can export your ledger and audit file at any point, so leaving does not mean abandoning your records. If you close your account, we will tell you what happens to your data and how to take an export before it is removed.

How do we raise a data request?

Use the contact details on the Contact page. Tell us what you need and which entity it concerns, and we will come back to you with what we hold and the options available.

Can our auditor work from the same export?

Yes. The audit file export is generated from the live ledger and the same file serves a review request, so your accountant or auditor is not waiting on a separate preparation step.
